Taking Art to the Streets: DIA Inside|Out in Auburn Hills & Clarkston

The Detroit Institute of Arts is taking art to the streets around Metro Detroit for the eighth year in a row! The DIA's Inside|Out program brings high-quality reproductions of masterpieces from the DIA’s collection to outdoor venues throughout the metropolitan Detroit area. Summer 2017 communities include: Allen Park, Auburn Hills, Clarkston, Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge, Detroit Riverwalk, Highland Township, Hines Park, St. Clair Shores, Sterling Heights, and Troy.

New this summer, the DIA is collaborating with the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History to include 10 reproductions of objects from their permanent collection. 

Beginning in August, you and your family will have the opportunity to view 7 treasures from the DIA within walking/biking distance from one another in Auburn Hills and another 11 in Clarkston. The Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA), one of the premier art museums in the United States, is home to more than 60,000 works that comprise a multicultural survey of human creativity from ancient times through the 21st century. From the first Van Gogh painting to enter a U.S. museum (Self-Portrait, 1887), to Diego Rivera's world-renowned Detroit Industry murals (1932–33), the DIA’s collection is known for its quality, range, and depth. The DIA’s mission is to create opportunities for all visitors to find personal meaning in art. 

Museum hours are Tuesday - Thursday: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., Friday: 9 a.m. - 10 p.m., and Saturday - Sunday: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. 

Admission is free for DIA members and residents of Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties.
